Advice by No Joy – Round 1

March 18, 2015

First off, I’d like to thank everyone for taking the time to submit questions to us. Obviously we are super flattered that you would come to us for advice, and we can honestly say that we’ll do our very best to answer your questions with the best possible advice. Please note that everything we say should be taken verbatim. If you have a question that you need answered, please send it to us via our Official Facebook Page.

Our first question comes from someone who calles themselves “Olde Mæn” (which i’m assuming is some kind of ye olde timey way of saying Old Man).

Old Man asks:

Dear NJ, I need to know if I need psychiatric help.

Oops, sorry Old Man, I just realized you wish to remain anonymous. Anyway, I think the only advice I can give here is that you probably need psychiatric help if you’re even sitting there wondering if you need it. Lets face it man, the werld is FUCKED UP. The fuckin CORPORATIONS and RICH PEOPLE are all out to get you with their MANUFACTURED HAPPINESS and their FAKE LIVES. So, no one blames u if ur a little twizted. Respect.

Logan asks, Dear Jasmine, Life in central PA is not a life of grandeur. I work in retail, I come home every night and try to write, in my mind, a good lo-fi psych pop song. Things go well, I wouldn’t call them a hit, but I’m on the look for more artists who could contribute to my vision and really expand. The problem is, everyone in my area is into metal-core, or reminiscing by doing covers of octane, tough-guy tunes. What sage advice could you suggest besides relocating? Your admirer, Logan P.S. Very psyched about your next album. Elbrecht is the man.

Well LoganI think you’re looking at this the wrong way. Embrace the challenge ahead of you and do things yourself until contributors come out of the woodwork. It sucks living in a small town where every1 is stupid (but ahem, metalcore is PRETTY cooL). Hey ahve u tried craigslits? post an ad, you’ll probably meet some really old dudes or whatever but maybe you’ll find younger people ? it is literally impossible to say. Anyway, I think it’s important to use the resources you have at your disposal? Maybe you can turn on a metalcorer to lo-fi psych pop chillwave dream gaze soft indie shoe style roick music? lord knows we werent all born with this exquisite taste of ours? fuck …i dunno! goog luck baby! also ya Elbrecht is OK i’ll let him knoy u said that !peace

Weekend the band asks: “how do I use a lightbulb as a pipe

Great question, this is actually somethign I know absolutely everything about! First what you want to do is grab a 60 watt bulb., then you wanna carefully smash it so it breaks into tiny small pieces. Scoop the glass dust into a glass, add a tablespoon of water and swallow ! Then smoke whatever u want. miss u

Hey! thanks fans, this has beena really fun first install, emt of the NO JOY ADVICE COLUMN please come back and keep those questions, how do u say, ROLLING IN?

peace & respect

Wait To Pleasure

February 20, 2013

We’re excited to finally reveal that our new album Wait to Pleasure will be out April 23 through Mexican Summer — you can listen to the lead single “Lunar Phobia” HERE. We’re also doing a bunch of US shows with Clinic and our buddies METZ throughout April and May. Check out the tour section for details.

New album in the works

August 20, 2012

We’ll be spending half of September recording LP2 at Gary’s Electric. We have Jorge Elbrecht on board producing / life coaching as we try to make sense of all the sounds we’ve been experimenting with since Ghost Blonde. We do not have a release date scheduled yet, but we are hoping for early 2013, once again on the amazing Mexican Summer label. While you wait, you can go buy our newish EP “Negaverse”
